Spectre Of War

Can you feel it nearing, this threat of war?

A darkness looms, from east and west,

menacing.

A war like no other

this one would be,

effecting you,

effecting me.

Chemicals to poison,

bombs to explode,

to jettison their nuclear load.

Will sense endure,

over-ride threat?

All that I know is it’s not happened yet.

Will so many be drawn

to play out a part

where bloodshed is plenty,

destruction is art?

Where the fall will be put

before the denting of pride,

where emotions are chaotic

and where anger rules the tide.

Will the spectre land to Earth and walk

along a path

where brutality has conquered

and then has the final laugh?

All is wrecked and ruined,

survivors will be few,

who dwell in a wasteland

of blood and bone and

and ashes, too.
